- Sarena Rosenfeld American Artist: b. 1940. Sarena (Serena) Rosenfeld was born in 1940 in New York. She earned her degree from Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles and also studied with Joe Magnunai. Coming from an artistic family, her parents were both artists. Her father was an architect who also painted water colors. Her mother, Rosalie, was a painter, clothing designer and book illustrator. Sarena's paintings are difficult to classify - they contain both fauvism and expressionist elements in a figurative setting. Her work is painterly and she formulates her own varnishes. Sarena Rosenfeld's work is exhibited internationally
