Michael Lukas (Austrian, b. 1979) is a Los Angeles-based artist who attended The Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna.  Through his work, Lukas explores depth within the picture plane, displaying a gestural abstraction that is reminiscent of Abstract Expressionism.  He is know for his gestural abstraction techniques and his innovative use of white paint in his canvases which give his work a unique and captivating freshness.
